USD 263 Inclement Weather Procedures
• The Superintendent will be aware of and consider any
adjustments to the schedule as early as possible.
• The Superintendent and Director of Transportation will drive
designated routes between 4 and 4:30 a.m. when needed.
Superintendents and Transportation Directors will also be consulted
as appropriate regarding school closings in the area.
• The Superintendent and Director of Transportation will confer
about road/weather conditions and the forecast.
• The Superintendent will make a decision between 5:30 and 6 a.m.
and notification via the School Messenger system will be made if a
late start or school closing is warranted. Maintenance staff will
begin clearing sidewalks and parking lots as soon as is
feasible.
• Student and staff safety will always serve as the premise for
decisions made regarding the closing of school.
• In the event of a late start, no breakfast will be provided and
K/ECH will not be in session. Special Education routes will also
not be run. Students attending Tri-City Day School will follow the
schedule of the Haysville district.
•Building Principals will provide direction on decisions regarding
tardies and attendance when weather conditions are changing or
extreme.
• Any school closing or schedule alteration will be broadcast on
Channel 10, Channel 12 and Channel 3 as well as designated radio
stations (KFDI, 101.3; KZSN, 102.1; and KEYN, 103.7) as soon as
possible.
